Every week, I introduce you to a marketing master who will share their expertise to help you market and sell more books. Today, my special guest is Dr Amanda Barrientez. She's the founder of NFA Money and Innerpower Daily. She's a best-selling author of "I Am a Money Magnet: 30 Affirmantras to Manifest More." Thanks for having me on, Susan. I'm so excited to be here.

Susan Friedmann [00:01:37]:

Well, I'm excited to have you because this is a subject that's near and dear to my heart, man festing. Going through your book, which by the way, listeners, gonna put a link to buy this book because it one that you need to have on your bookshelf. It's based on the 30 top affirmations to help you manifest more. Talk to us about this whole idea of using affirmations to manifest money.

Dr. Amanda Barrientez [00:02:09]:

It's so interesting because I fell in love with using affirmations when I started to shift my own mindset and play with going from a really victim based mindset to an abundance mindset. It worked really well for me too. Every time I noticed, oh, I'm going in a negative thought pattern or down the negative spiral of thought, and I just notice it. And then I use an affirmation that I have preprogrammed into my thinking. I even put them on my phone and would have it pop up on my screen, and I started to notice that I felt an energy shift And so I paid a lot of attention to that since that time when I started using them, the very first one I used was I am a money magnet. So, for example, What I would do is is let's say I was walking around, here I am on food stamps, and I'm going, I really am ready to uplevel my money game. I'm tired of being broken 4. I had 3 kids, and I was really struggling. And I thought, I gotta reprogram myself. And so I started playing with this idea of, I'm a money magnet. Everything I touch turns to gold. And so, you know, I'd find a penny in the street. I'd say, I'm a money magnet. Everything I touch turns to gold. And then I'd go into the grocery store, and let's say something when I would go to checkout was on sale. in my mind, I'd go, I'm a money magnet. Everything I touch turns to gold. And then I'd get, like, you know, money in the mail by surprise. And I'd say, I'm a money magnet. Everything I touch turns to goal, then I started just playing with this and programming myself and noticing shifts. And since then, I've learned a ton about how to use affirmations correctly and incorrectly. And a lot of people make mistakes in this way. So that's something that I think is really important think about and talk about and for people to know.

Susan Friedmann [00:03:52]:

Well, that's a great segue. We've got to hear how you should and you shouldn't use them. I know that sometimes when I've said things, I don't believe them even though the words are coming out of my mouth. And I've heard this said by other people, talk to us more about the right and the wrong way to use affirmations.

Dr. Amanda Barrientez [00:04:11]:

Yeah. It's exactly like you said. So if we say something to ourselves, that isn't true. What most people advocate for is like say this and you'll start to believe it and it'll come true. The issue with that is that

of us is run by our subconscious and only 5% by our conscious. So when you say Right? So let's just say you're going, I am a best selling author. I am a best selling author, but you don't believe it yet because you're not there yet.

percent of you when you're saying that is going, you're full of crap. You're telling yourself a lot. You don't know what you're doing. What if you never get there? What if you fail? all of the negative talk. And so what you're actually doing is creating resistance and resistance is the number one reason we don't manifest. because we create unconscious blocks that send out a feeling into the universe and that vibrational frequency of doubt and fear is what gets attracted back to us. So if you're using Appra Munchers in that way, you're actually programming yourself for the exact opposite thing that you say you want. What I've done in this book is teach people what I call Aframantras, and they teach a system of using starter statements that your brain 100% believes to be true. So an example of this, and I give 60 of these in the book for you to play with, would be instead of saying I am a best selling author, you could say I am in the process of becoming a best selling author. I am getting better at better at learning how to sell book. I am getting better and better at learning how to write books. So you hear that statement I am getting better at your brain doesn't create resistance and your being doesn't create resistance because you can believe that to be true. And so that's what I love to teach people is how to actually stop creating resistance and they're being set themselves up for success so that they can manifest through what I call inner power alignment.

Susan Friedmann [00:06:05]:

Oh, that's makes so much sense. I love that. Yeah. Because your brain, I am, you know, getting to be, or I'm in process of becoming is, yes, you're thinking about the future because you're not a best selling author right now. However, I could definitely become 1. So why not, you know, and attract that? So I love that. I mean, I know that you know, I get authors who I want to sell a million books and I say, well, okay. And how many people do you have on your database? Well, I haven't got a database just yet. So I said, well, let's start at the beginning here. stick because you don't go from 0 to a 1,000,000 just like that. There are steps in between. Talk to us a little bit about that because, yes, we have these, you know, pie in the sky, maybe goals or visions, and yet, Is it the same process that you're talking about with these?

Dr. Amanda Barrientez [00:07:10]:

What did you call them? Afro -- -- mantra. So it's amazing. Yeah. It's amazing. The word affirmation and mantra. The reason I did that is because in order to reprogram your mindset, you have to repeat something. So our subconscious mind, the only way to reprogram it is through hypnosis or repetition. because realistically your subconscious mind is a storehouse for habits and anything that becomes autopilot in your subconscious mind is because you've repeated it enough times for it to be stored in your subconscious automatically. So in order for you to reprogram it, you gotta repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat. And so I love concept of using an affirmation repeatedly like a mantra that reprograms your mind. So that's why I combined those 2 to go, okay, let's play with this idea of remembering that I must use an affirmation that's believable in a mantra based way over and over again, and then I reprogram myself And then once you manifest it, now you move on to the next because now you don't need to say it anymore. I think it's so funny when we think about how once you've achieved a goal, you no longer need to affirm it because it's already true in your being. Right?

And

so I think that's a really interesting thing to think about. And I love what you said about the goal piece of pie in the sky goals because when I'm working with people, I always talk to them just like you're saying that you did with someone who says, I wanna sell a million books and you go, well, how many people do you have in your community? And they have none, you gotta break it down into smaller pieces. Because when we set goals that are so out of reach from where we currently are, it automatically triggers our subconscious into a state of disbelief. and then you're gonna procrastinate and hesitate because you don't actually believe what you're saying is true. And so anytime someone comes to me and says they have a goal, but they're taking action. I already know that they are resistant and that they don't believe in what they're saying because they don't have a system. They're afraid. They're not sure what they're doing. And so we need to set what I call manifestation based goals. And so when you set a manifestation based goal, it means that you are 100% aligned -- with the goal that you're expressing. And then you're able to manifest it because you are reducing the resistance and you're very clear and you can create a very clear plan and path to accomplish that and then let the universe bring you opportunities that you couldn't have planned for yourself. Does that make sense?

Susan Friedmann [00:09:33]:

It does certainly. And, again, great segue because in your book, you talk about your proven 3 step formula to reprogram your money mindset. And I'm going to be a little bit cheeky here and say, Could you share with us that 3 step formula?

Dr. Amanda Barrientez [00:09:51]:

Absolutely. So this is a really easy and simple formula. And I Sometimes when I tell it to people, like, really, Doctor Amanda, is that really gonna get me there? And the truth is absolutely yes because it's a transformation tool. So I call it the inner power formula, and it's 3 simple steps. So step number 1 is to recognize step number 2 is to reframe and step number 3 is to repeat to reprogram. Now this sounds very simple. And what I see with people time and time again is that they get stuck even at number 1. They can't even slow down enough to recognize what they want. or who they are, what their fears are, what their beliefs are. They don't know their zone of genius. They're not sure why they're doing what they're doing other than that they've been told that it's a pathway to success. And so even in this step number 1, the part is you recognizing how am I feeling on a daily basis. What am I doing that's working? What am I doing that's not working? If it's not working, who am I gonna reach out to to get help, or how am I gonna change myself from the inside out. Right? So recognition is a there's no possibility of change or accomplishing what you consciously say you want unless you wreck ignize where you're currently at and highlight what's working and what's not working. So that's the first step. In step 2, when you reframe, This could be that you're reframing your thoughts. So after mantras are a way to reframe your thoughts, meditation, journaling, different actions. So deciding, okay. This is what I typically do, but it's not working. I'm actually just gonna do something a little bit different and see if this tweak helps me get something different. That could be a reframe. Reading a book could be a reframe because you are using a different part of your brain and you're learning something new. And so you're shifting out of your old ways of thinking and being an expanding into different ways of thinking. So that could be a reframe. When you repeat these things over and over again, you actually change your brain structure. So you are by the habit of repetition, you are creating new neural wiring in order to get the desired results. And so it sounds like a really simple formula. If you follow it every day for a month, I promise you you will notice differences. And that's what I teach in the book That's what I teach in all of my coaching and training that I do is to help people reprogram themselves so that they can get outer world differences. So I always tell people your outer world is a reflection of your inner world. And if you don't like what's going on the outside, change what's within. And that's what this formula helps you do.

Susan Friedmann [00:12:22]:

Oh, that's beautiful. And I know that you have a morning manifestation strategy. So is that going through this three step process first thing in the morning. What's that one about?

Dr. Amanda Barrientez [00:12:35]:

Dr. Amanda Barrientez [00:12:43]:

So this one's really fun. If you go to inner power 101.com, inner power 101, the numbers 101.com, I teach 5 strategies, and these are strategies to transform your state of being so that you can magnetically attract business money opportunities, things like that. Right? And so if you think about the importance of doing this first thing in the morning, the reason for that is because in the morning first thing, you are setting the tone of the rest of your day. So this is why I always tell people, you know, the top highest percent of entrepreneurs or people in the world have a powerful morning routine, and it's because they are gonna set themselves up for success for the rest of the day. And so you wanna focus first thing in the morning on aligning your energy, getting your mindset empowered, feeling good and high vibe because your feelings are what magnet ties your reality to you. And so I help people with strategies that help them change their energetic alignment So I have a journaling system, so I help people learn journal and meditate. I like to also add EFT to it if people here have heard of EFT emotional freedom techniques. I do EFT. I'll sometimes teach people to just dance or listen to a song. Do something in the morning that gets you high vibes so that it sets the tone for the rest of the day so that now you can attract opportunities more easily instead of resisting and blocking them.

Susan Friedmann [00:14:09]:

I love that routine. What happens if you miss a day?

Dr. Amanda Barrientez [00:14:13]:

Nothing bad. You'll blow up. No. I'm just saying.

I know. --

Susan Friedmann [00:14:17]:

a lot of scared off. That's why I asked the question. Yeah.

Dr. Amanda Barrientez [00:14:20]:

Yeah. I would say this. It's more about what the majority of the time you're doing and how you feel about it. Okay. The issue with missing a day here and there is that it can be a slow downward spiral. And what you want to be creating is a upward spiral growth trajectory. It's okay to miss a day here and there, of course. I have a morning routine program for entrepreneurs where I teach them a little mini lesson and then they meditate and journal. And I do it Monday through Friday. And then on Saturday, we have book club and Sunday is off. I do the off day because, of course, everyone needs to take a break from everything. Sometimes you need to just slow down and not have at least for me, it makes me feel really high vibe to sometimes be spontaneous instead of always scheduled. And so I think it's absolutely fine to miss a day. It's more about your intention behind what you're doing. Let's say someone shows up every single day to do the morning routine, but they feel really obligatory about it. They are resisting it. They feel frustrated. It's another checkbox on their to do list. It causes them stress. That's not gonna help you. Right? Because the energy you feel behind it is what matters. If you show up for your morning routine with inspiration and hope and possibility and you're like, I'm doing this because it's good for me. I love it. I love to learn about myself. I love to grow and expand as a human. And that's why I'm doing this. That's so much more powerful than if you show up and just check the box. to do it. So it's much more about your energy and your mindset and your feelings behind doing what you're doing.

Susan Friedmann [00:15:51]:

And about how long does this, you know, little strategy take?

Dr. Amanda Barrientez [00:15:56]:

I set it up so that people could do it in 15 minutes or less. Now I'll say it's been interesting because the people I have in in the community that are in their called Interpower daily membership. Some people will say, it takes me 45 minutes. You can do it in 15 minutes. You could journal 4 hours if you wanted to. Right? And so it's really gonna depend on you, but I did set it up so that it could be a 15 minute habit because I know that we all have busy lives and sometimes you need a shorter version of a morning routine. So it's meant to be done in achievements, and then you could add to it if you choose to. Some days, I do it with my honey in the morning and we'll listen to it together and then we journal and we meditate And then sometimes we'll talk for hours about it. But I've also designed my lifestyle to where I can't do that. Some people, depending on your stage of business that you're in or the stage of that you're in, you might need to be more time blocked. They see you have kids at home or, you know, it depends on your life style. So if you have a lifestyle where you need a shorter morning routine, it can be done in 15 minutes.

Susan Friedmann [00:16:56]:

I love that. That's beautiful. The entrepreneurial journey, you know, that often we had setbacks. It's hard sometimes to bounce back from maybe a failure or something that didn't quite work the way you'd wanted to and you get very disheartened. How do you help people during sort of those tougher times?

Dr. Amanda Barrientez [00:17:19]:

Such a great question. And it's so true. And I think for everyone listening, it's important to know that everybody goes through that. It is impossible to have a 1-sided experience where it's all up. Right? And I think we expect that. And sometimes we beat ourselves up when that's not the case for us. And it's really just something in our minds that we need to reframe and accept and know that life is an upward spiral growth trajectory, not a straight line. You know, if you people could see me, if if you had a straight line, most people expect success to be from a to z, and it's just all up up up up up up up up. That's not how it works. It's actually I have tattoos of spirals and I wear spiral earrings and a ring. Like, I love spirals because they remind me that there are going to be ups and downs. and yet all of those downs get me to the next level of the up where I get to keep expanding as a person, a human, an entrepreneur, an author, all the things, right? So I want people to remember when you're on that down part, and it seems like you're failing, know that you're actually learning how to get to the next up, and it's gonna be an even more expanded version of yourself. 1st and foremost, being okay with failure is actually a mindset choice. It's you understanding that you're on the way your growth instead of these failures being obstacles that keep you down. And so a lot of it is about mindset. So when people come to me heartened that they've had something hard happen, what I have them do is look at the benefits of the hard thing that's happened so they can start to have their conscious brain see that it's been for their growth. And then it's actually lessons that are helping them get to the next level. And that's really a, you know, a manifestation concept where we go Okay. In order to manifest what I choose, which is really just conscious goal setting, I must decide to clear out any unconscious blocks I have about not being good enough, fear, imposter syndrome, doubt, stress. You could even be fear of success. Maybe you've been hugely successful and you're afraid it's gonna be too much responsibility or you're afraid if you have too much money, people will think you're bad or greedy. We have all these unconscious blocks that keep us stuck. And so once we clear those out, then we can choose our challenges And we really don't see any of the challenges as failures anymore, and we don't get as disheartened. So I love to help people know that when you learn these tools, It's not that you don't have challenges come up. It's that you know how to move through them in a much more poised way.

Susan Friedmann [00:19:45]:

That was beautiful. And what came to mind, as you're saying, this doctor Amanda, is the unconscious, you know, those mindsets things that you grew up with, you know, your parents say, oh, money doesn't grow on trees and you need to appreciate what you've got We can't afford this and that, etcetera. I know you said you brought food stamps and you went from that to this 6 figure business. How do we even tap into even acknowledge that we have some of those unconscious mindset blocks?

Dr. Amanda Barrientez [00:20:21]:

such a great question. And, you know, you're pointing back to that first step in the formula is that it's the recognition part. Right? And you're right. It's very challenging when something is unconscious because obviously if you could make it conscious automatically or easily, you would already have eliminated the problem. And so the way to know that you have blocks first and foremost is to check-in with how you feel. So if you wake up in the morning and you feel stressed out, and scared or even let's just say just stress. Say you wake up in the morning stressed. You already know that you have something blocking you from feeling joy. You could just ask yourself a really powerful tool for recognition is just to start asking yourself questions. Be curious. And not from a state of beat up, because you don't wanna be increasing your shame and your inner critic beat up and your fear and your doubt and your uncertainty. Instead, you're going, okay. I'm gonna choose to recognize what's holding me back that's unconscious. I'm gonna start to play with it and dig up some of those beliefs so that I can choose whether I wanna keep believing them or if I wanna reframe them to get something different in terms of money in my book, it's on page 32, actually. It's really great asking yourself, like, What did your parents program you with? And this is not to blame your parents. This is a tool of recognition because your parents were doing the best they knew how to do, and they're teaching you things that they think we're gonna protect you or help you, right, they're programmed as well. And so it's our job to go from today forward, I choose to get conscious so that I can decide my reality and my future and manifest what I choose instead of running an unconscious story from the past. My favorite quote of all time that I live by and build my whole business by and coach from is a quote by Carl Young, he says until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate. And so that's what we're doing by asking ourselves questions. And this is why I think journaling is such a powerful tool because you start to dig into yourself I think of my journal as my Bible of myself. And it's like, I get to know myself. I get to grow myself. I get to love myself. I get to see what I'm afraid of. I get to see What's inside keeping me stuck? On page 32 of my book, it's thinking about, okay, did you watch the people in your life fight over money? -- the adults in your life. Were they jealous of wealthy people around them? Did they compete to keep up? Were they harshly judging poor or rich people? -- where they chronically stressed about money, these things programmed you and your current relationship with money. And so you wanna start digging in to the protect your unconscious block so that you can choose if you wanna keep believing them or change them.

Susan Friedmann [00:22:59]:

That's so powerful as well. Oh my goodness. It's like Yes. Let's get started on these strategies and turn the business around to what you want it to be and what it could be. I mean, The sky's the limit as they say, don't they? I know that listeners want to know more doctor Amanda. I always love to set the tone of inspiration. So let's play with an Aframantra for everybody. How about it is 100% possible to succeed in life and business. I mean, just that alone, if you tell yourself that every day, it is 100% possible for me to see exceed at any level I choose in my life and business. It is 100% possible for me to succeed at blank. Whatever it is for you that you're focusing on right now, just know that you can go from broken down, scarcity-minded, victim-minded, stuck, and stressed out to thriving and being abundant when you start to program yourself from the inside out. Anything is possible. You said it a minute ago, Susan, you said limitless limitless potential. That's what we all have the power to be and do and have when we decide to reprogram our energy system. That's the whole concept of inner power daily. Choose inner power daily. Choose to be a person who grows yourself and comes magnetic to all of the things that you desire, which really is freedom. Right? We want freedom of choice. We want freedom of opportunity. And it starts from the inside out. So make sure that you're doing every single day something that nurtures yourself from the inside out and removes your unconscious block so that you can feel like you have a magic wand to manifest anything you desire.

Susan Friedmann [00:25:51]:

Yes. And that morning manifestation strategy is just 15 minutes. What's 15 minutes? It takes that to even just make a cup of coffee. Oh, well, that's the long shot, but, yeah, it doesn't take long folks. Let's give it a try. Let me know. Yeah.
